Founded in 2013 by Danish Batra, Hair Master Group is a leading hi-end luxury salon which opened their first branch in Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi and now has a chain of 21 Salons all over India. Danish has been instrumental in pioneering the development of this chain along with opening several new luxury salons in important locations, thus redefining hospitality, architectural and design standards in the salon industry. The Salon believe to work as an organization which aims at leadership in the salon industry by understanding its clients, and designing and delivering products and services which enable it to exceed their expectations. They always demonstrate care for the customers through anticipation of their needs, attention to detail, distinctive excellence, warmth and concern. The Hair Masters Group has also established Hair Masters Academy in New Delhi. Today, this institution is considered amongst the best in the country with approximately 100 students graduating each year.
1. Tell us something about yourself and your company.
The Hair Master Group is a leading chain of hi-end luxury salons located in various cities of India. Since its inception in 2014, the Group has established an impeccable reputation for redefining the paradigm of luxury and excellence of service amongst salons in our country. Hair Masters Salons offer varied options to provide optimum care to body, hair, and skin. Our excellent range of traditional and latest services include Haircut & Styling, Hair Texture & Treatments, Professional Make-up & Styling, Facials, Hand, Feet & Nail Care Services, and so on. Some of our latest industry trend-oriented offerings are Permanent Eyelash Extensions, Nail & Hair Extensions, Botox, Skin Peel, Honey Wrapping, Regenerating Treatments, Shellac Coating, etc. As of date, we have 895 employees who work in different segments/roles as pedicurists, stylists, assistant managers; make-up artists, housekeeping, etc. Our highly motivated and well-trained staffs are committed to providing exceptionally attentive, personalized and warm service to our clients. Today, Hair Masters Salon already has 21 branches in 5 different states of India, and construction of 3 more salons are underway. Our headquarters is in Punjabi Bagh in Delhi, from where we started our business journey.
I am the Managing Director of Hair Masters Luxury Salons. I graduated from Khalsa College and then pursued my MBA from the London School of Economics. After coming back to India, decided to open my venture Hair Masters Salon. So, I opened the first salon in my own neighbourhood in Delhi, with only 4 employees. Currently, I am 38 years old.
2. What inspired you to start Hair Masters Salon?
Since my teenage years, I was highly inclined towards the wellness and beauty industry. I am fond of well-groomed people in general. From my business point of view, I saw that there was a great opportunity in this segment; the high-end salon business was one of the fastest-growing businesses in urban India. Keeping these factors in mind, I decided to combine my passion with my business acumen and knowledge and thus started Hair Masters Salon.
3. How has been your entrepreneur journey so far?
When I started my business journey back in 2014, I never thought that I would own 21 salons and employ so many people one day. Over the years, we got excellent feedback from our guests and customers and started expanding into various cities and states of India. The journey has been like sea waves, sometimes it goes up and other times it comes down. It has always been like a roller-coaster ride still I manage to survive with best of my capabilities.
4. What were the initial challenges that you have faced in your journey? How did you overcome it?
Ever since we began the business journey, we did not face many challenges in getting clients/customers or serving them. Initial challenges were there in terms of hiring staff, or to be more precise, finding quality technicians suited to our Salon’s standards, but we overcame this challenge eventually. We opened a hair and makeup academy and started training people and training & hiring staff from them was the winning edge.
5. What has been your biggest achievement in this journey?
We were awarded the Fastest Growing Salon Chain and we also hold a record of completing 1000 make-ups in a day.
6. Did you raise any funding? If not, then are you eyeing to raise funding through Investor?
I had raised funds with the help of a friend (who has also been our client previously). The investment raised was from a Singapore-based Company. Currently, I am also in final level talks with a Delhi-based investor to raise $3 million, i.e. approximately INR 23 crore.
7. How are you planning to set a benchmark among other Industry Players?
I am working on one step better infrastructure, interior, staff quality and better products and we are charging 20% extra for that than mostly bigger chains available in the market right now.

9. What are your future plans?
In the post-pandemic and lockdown period, the salon industry will take a few months time to return to its previous glory. Hair Masters Group has already been lauded for its excellent customer service standards, and we will do our best in the future to strive for unsurpassed excellence and reputation. Our vision is to become the biggest and most valued Salon chain in the country, and in the near future, we want to spread out to high-potential locations in tier 1 tier 2 cities. We are planning to open new branches in Jaipur, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Punjab and later on in Dubai. The plan is to open 50 branches of Hair Masters Group by 2025 both in the national and international markets.
10. As an entrepreneur, what is it that motivates and drives you?
Success is what motivates me to do a good job. Knowing the fact that my hard work and perseverance will help me achieve greater professional success is what keeps me going. I feel that aligning the company’s vision and values with my own is one way to achieve that.
Coming up with creative ideas to improve something, or make something new. Analysing complex data in order to draw clear and simple conclusions. Working well as part of a team and leading a team to success is what drives me.
